Half an hour’s drive brings you to the historic city of Chichester, or just 15 minutes away is Midhurst, the centre of the South Downs National Park, where you’ll find the National Park visitor centre as well as the garden lover’s dream, Woolbeding Gardens (National Trust). Midhurst is also home to the hallowed turf of the Cowdray Estate Polo Fields, where The British Open Polo Championship is played each summer for the Cowdray Gold Cup, watched by a vibrant crowd drawn from across the globe. Also within easy reach is Arundel, famous for its magnificent castle, and Amberley, home to picturesque chocolate box cottages and Amberley Museum a museum housing a huge variety of exhibits and vintage vehicles, which makes a great day out.
