Easter Holidays have arrived - Eggciting fun to be had!

You won’t be stuck for things to do this Easter holidays, with the array of activities going on in and around Chichester this Easter:

In the city…

Join an Easter Egg Hunt at The Novium Museum (6-22 April, £2 per child, no booking required), where chocolate rewards are up for grabs.  

Pallant House Gallery is hosting a range of creative activities to inspire and entertain.  Children can have a go at various forms of screen printing; large scale painting, animating or creating a self-portrait using different mediums.  £35 per child, booking required. There’s further, free-of-charge Easter fun on offer on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the Easter Holidays – check their website for details.

Tuesday 9th April (10-3pm) at Chichester Cathedral, children are invited to join the Birds and Bugs trail, with prizes for those who finish.  Birds and Bugs craft activities are also on offer, as well as a play area for smaller children. £2.50 per child.

Chichester Canal has special Easter Bunny Boat trips running from 12th-16th/19-20th April  - pre-booking is required.

In our region…

Easter Trails are also taking place at West Dean Gardens, where garden games are also on offer; Arundel Wetlands Centre WWT where giant Easter ducks are hiding; Uppark House and Garden, and at Amberley Museum, where children can also have a go at printing, woodturning or playing with clay.  The Spinnaker Tower is encouraging youngsters to search the tower for egg-shaped puzzle pieces, plus stars of CBeebies, Bing and Flop will be appearing at various intervals on 13th/20thApril- see website for further information. Stansted Park has trails and craft activities taking place in the house, as well as the Walled Garden.

The Weald and Downland Museum invites families to experience traditional Easter preparations, including the infamous Easter Bake on Good Friday.  Various activities will be going on, from traditional games, to egg painting and bonnet making, culminating in an Easter Bonnet Parade in the Market Square on Easter Monday.

Fontwell Racecourse’s Easter Eggstravaganza takes place on Friday 12thApril and promises to be great fun for all the family; funfair, a petting zoo and of course an Egg Hunt – not to mention an action-packed afternoon of racing.  Children go free with adults purchasing tickets. 

Fishbourne Roman Palace is celebrating the coming of Spring this Easter.  Children will enjoy taking on the Easter themed treasure hunt around the gardens or trying their hand at mosaic design, sundial making or spinning wool.  There’s also the chance to dress up Roman-style – don’t forget your selfies! 

Arundel Castle is preparing for the Third Crusade from 20-22 April.  Visitors will experience demonstrations of Armour, Combat, Archery and Falconry, plus various crafts will be available to try your hand at.

5th April sees the launch of Marwell Zoo’s BRICKOSAURS.  This spectacular interactive expedition is created with more than two million LEGO® bricks and offers visitors a chance to take part in ahost of activities in our Base Camp, photo opportunities, trails, brick pits and our BRICKOSHOP. Open daily from 10am - 3:30pm and runs until September.

With the Spring lambing season underway, take a peep at some sweet newborn lambs at Gaston Farm’s lambing open days. Open every day during April, but visitors are advised to check the website before they arrive in case of unplanned closures.

Goodwood Golf Course is hosting Junior golf camps (3/4/5 days) where expert coaches will provide a fun and relaxed environment for everyone to learn and develop skills whilst growing in confidence along the way.  Booking essential.
