Afternoon Tea week - where will you have yours?

Is there a more British thing to do than to take afternoon tea?  And where better to take it than in Chichester, one of the South's most beautiful and historic cities. Afternoon tea was invented by Anna, seventh Duchess of Bedford when she was a little peckish one afternoon during the long break between lunch and dinner. She ask for some bread and butter, tea andcake  to be bought to her room. It became a habit, and she began intiving her friends to join her for 'Afternoon Tea'. This week is national Afternoon Tea Week, so why not try out some of Chichester's offerings:

Patisseria Valerie

Why not indulge in a scrumptious Afternoon Tea at Patisserie Valerie - Chichester. Enjoy the great British tradition at a venue that has been treating its customers to delicious patisseries since 1926.

  • From £35 for two. 
  • 11am to 5pm Monday-Friday, 3pm to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

 

Chichester Harbour Hotel

Nestled within the 4-star boutique Chichester Harbour Hotel, 'The Restaurant' is an AA Rosette awarded restaurant in the heart of Chichester. You can indulge in their 'Ship Afternoon Tea' featuring an array of delicious sandwiches, homemade scones, and a selection of tempting sweet treats.

  • 1:30pm to 4pm Monday - Friday, 2pm to 4pm Saturday & Sunday

 

Goodwood House

No good day out is ever complete without enjoying a delicious cream tea. Open again at the beginning of March, until late October, enjoy an array of sandwiches, cakes, pastries and traditional English scones in the magnificent Ballroom.

  • Pre-book now at £25 per person, including entry fee. Champagne is available at an extra charge.
  • Served from 1pm – 4.30pm on Open Days. Last entry at 4pm. 

 

Pavillion Tea Room, Stansted Park

Treat yourself to a real English tradition, a set Afternoon Tea at The Pavilion, presented to you on a tiered cake stand overlooking the beautiful Walled Garden.

Afternoon Tea can be for the whole family, with our special Children’s menu as well as a choice for different dietary requirements. Relax with Afternoon Tea and Jazz at one of our popular events!

  • From £16.95 per person. Must be booked 48hours in advance. 
  • Afternoon Teas can be booked for 3.30pm.

 

Spread Eagle Hotel, Midhurst

The Spread Eagle is perfect for afternoon tea, for a special occasion or just because you deserve a treat. Sink into a sofa by the fire or sit in our light, bright conservatory and indulge.

Afternoon tea is served between 2pm and 7pm and we recommend booking in advance as it's extremely popular.

Millstream Hotel, near Bosham

Enjoy the delights of traditional afternoon tea, served in the lounge or garden. Includes a pot of tea or coffee, selection of finger sandwiches, a selection of sweet treats, and homemade scones served with home-made jam and clotted cream.

  • From £21.50
  • Available to book from Tuesday to Sunday (and Bank Holidays), the full tea is served from 3:30pm.
