Explore the wonders of the natural world at Marwell Zoo, near Winchester. From ring-tailed coatis to majestic giraffes and endangered tigers to pygmy hippos, the 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species, in beautiful landscaped surroundings. What’s more, by exploring Marwell Zoo you’ll play a big part in helping to save them.
This summer will see a zeal of Marwell’s Zany Zebras gallop through the streets of Southampton & Marwell Zoo for 10 weeks from 16 July 2016 creating two fun, family friendly art trails for all to enjoy. Over 130 brightly coloured sculptures will adorn the city streets and a miniature replica trail will be hosted at the zoo – all in the name of their conservation efforts to save the Grevy’s zebra in its wild African habitat. Brought to you by the same team at Marwell behind the hugely successful Go! Rhinos of 2013, Marwell’s Zany Zebras promises to be even bigger and better!
As well as the miniature Marwell’s Zany Zebras trail around the zoo, you’ll also experience the African wilderness first hand at their newest and biggest ever exhibit to date – Wild Explorers. Take in some incredible views of white rhino, zebra and scimitar-horned oryx roaming together and awaken your inner explorer as you learn how to radio-track; how to decipher clues from bones in the sand, or how to identify individual zebras through their unique stripes. As well as a range of entertaining activities, both indoors and out, Wild Explorers also offers a new, themed play area for younger guests.
A programme of fascinating talks and feeds is available on a range of animal species throughout the day, and many other activities will also be taking place during school holidays.
Marwell Zoo provides all the facilities you need for a brilliant day out at any time of year – it’s more than just a zoo!
