Plants and flowers are a strong theme in Chichester's summer as Chichester Cathedral gears up to celebrate its biennial Festival of Flowers while at Weald & Downland Living Museum showcases the historic role of plants and flowers in rural communities with a Flower Power weekend, an historic gardens exhibition and special evening discussing The Power of Plants in modern drinks.

Feast your sense at an enticing Flower Power Weekend at Weald & Downland Living Museum, where you'll discover the heritage of using plants and herbs in our diets, for health & wellbeing to a multitude of other uses, including distilling and for their fragrance and visually. 22nd & 23rd June.
Don't miss the chance to delve into an exhibition exploring historic gardens which begins on 28th May, looking at the Museum’s Historic Gardens, the process of creation and maintenance, how the plants grown in the gardens had important culinary & medicinal uses, as well as practical uses for textiles & dyes. On display will be a fascinating copy of 'Gerards 17th century herbal book' featuring woodcut and herbarium samples.
An enticing evening with Tinwood, Hendricks & Spirit of the Downs Brandy
Tickets are now on sale for a special evening talk delving into today's uses of herbs and plants in beverages, where Art Tukker owner of Tinwood Wine Estate, Luke Condell, UK Brand Ambassador of Hendricks Gin, and Bridgette Ryan, Business Development Manager of Spirit of the Downs Brandy will be sharing the stories of growth to glass of their products, and well as giving an insight into their brands. The Festival of Flowers
The Cathedral's biennial floral spectacular features over 60 floral creations crafted by floral designers and flower enthusiasts from across the country. If you've yet to experience the festival, we urge you to book your tickets now to see the cathedral transformed into a floral wonderland. A Festival Market will feature unique products from a range of Sussex-based suppliers and businesses - from handcrafted floral mementos and homewares, to local wine and produce. Why not complete the experience with a picnic lunch on the Cathedral green (deckchairs will be provided) or afternoon tea at Cloisters Kitchen & Garden. New for 2024's Festival, visitors can also choose to enjoy the Festival at a special Gin & Jazz Evening including an exclusive floral gin produced by Slake Spirits.
Discover stunning Sussex gardens - in aid of charity
The National Garden Scheme is highlighting the importance of water in gardens, and once again this spring and summer visitors have the chance to explore gardens not usually open to the public, in aid of charity. Partnered with WWT, The National Garden Scheme aims to promote better understanding of the key role of wetlands and water in nature and in gardens, helping and inspiring gardeners to create mini wetlands in their own gardens and crucially, how to conserve water during hot spells.
